The history dates back to the summer of 1945. NSA Panama City was founded when a mine division from Solomons, Maryland was relocated on site and founded a new facility. The facilities are open to anyone hosted at NSA Panama City, starting with the military personnel and ending with the civilian families. The recreational and outdoor activities have not been forgotten either. In an attempt to make everyone enjoy a high quality of life, the authorities have built some of the finest and most modern facilities, including dining facilities, society clubs, community centers, snack bars and so on. The officials didn’t forget about the inhabitants. The units and tenants on site come as some of the main priorities too. Basically, the base aims to support the United States Navy and the Department of Defense in all of their operations.

The primary objective of the installation is to ensure the readiness of the warfighters hosted on site.

As for the economic part, the base is among the largest single employers in Bay County. The control over the water was achieved in order to establish a fast and effective connection with the Gulf of Mexico. The installation spreads over almost 2.7 square kilometers, without counting the waterways it has control over. The facility is operated by the United States Navy, under the command of Jessica M. Located in the immediate proximity of Bay County, Naval Support Activity Panama City was established close to Panama City, in the northwestern part of Florida.
